It takes a special person to stand up and take the Oath to defend this country. The men and women that swore that Oath have earned their rights. Those that never swore that Oath can never understand the commitment, the sacrifice, and the effects that the Veteran and their family have endured.
In 2018 YOUR Representative voted to take Wyoming state education benefits away from Combat Veterans and the Spouses and Orphans of those Killed in Action (SF 036). In fact, every Representative and Senator from Park County voted for this attack and Gov. Mead signed it.
Your Representative also voted, in 2017, to take Wyoming state education benefits away from Vietnam Combat Veterans and the Spouses and Orphans of those Killed in Action (HB 176).
I will fight to restore those state education benefits not only for Combat Veterans and the Spouses and Orphans of those Killed in Action, but for all Veterans. These are the kind of people we need to move Wyoming into the future.
Wyoming state law 39-13-105 grants property tax reduction to Veterans; however all Veterans do not qualify because they did not get a specific medal. Veterans should all be granted the tax reduction based on the fact that they stood up and served, not based on where they served. Most Veterans do not get a say in where they serve. A Veteran can do most of their career on active duty in Wyoming and not qualify.
I support changing this because it helps our older Veterans on fixed incomes remain in their homes, and it helps our young Veterans afford a home to raise their family and help Wyoming prosper.
I support restoring and increasing funding for health care facilities, especially in rural Wyoming. We need to improve access to quality physical and mental health care for all residents. The Federal VA Choices program can not help our Veterans if there are no civilian health care facilities for them to use.
I support increased state education and vocational training opportunities for the members of the National Guard and Reserve.
Having been activated and deployed myself, I understand the unique hardships that families of deploying National Guard members face. I support funding and creation of support programs, especially in rural areas, to help the families with their needs.
It takes special people to stand up and say “I swear to protect and defend the United States…”; and I will always stand with Veterans because
